Activity Update
August’s Family Fun was definitely memorable. We had great weather for our picnic and the magic show was definitely a treat. I’m not sure who had more fun, the kids who participated in the magic show or us adults who laughed along with the magician during his tricks! And I can’t forget to mention the food. All the dishes brought in were amazing! It is always fun to take a little taste of everyone’s favorite dishes.
September is sure to be a busy month with back to school schedules and fall activities. We have some special events in the works as usual. September 6th is Read a Book Day so we invited the Little Bulldogs from down the street to stop by for storytime and cookies. They are going to bring a couple of their favorite stories, and I will bring in a couple of my family’s favorite stories and we will read them together and enjoy a treat together. We are also inviting the Kindermusik kids back for another Kindermusik with Grandfriends event. It will be nice to spend time with the littles in September!
National Assisted Living Week is September 9th through the 15th and this year’s theme is “Capture the Moment.” We are planning some special events for our assisted living tenants including a fishing trip and a dementia education for the community. Be sure to watch our Facebook page to keep up to date with the latest happenings and for the moments we capture during National Assisted Living Week and throughout the year.
On Thursday, September 13th at 3:30pm Kristie Wiltgen from the Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging will be presenting “Aging with Grace” a dementia education that will go over different physical, psychological, and social changes that occur in aging and dementia. Light refreshments will be provided, and I would highly encourage you to attend.
Thank you to everyone for your continued love and support!
