March is National Nutrition Month.  It is celebrated every year and its intent is to focus on the importance of making informed choices and developing sound eating and physical habits. There is no one diet that is right for everyone, so it is important to follow a healthful eating plan that is packed with tasty foods and that keeps your unique lifestyle in mind.

The theme for this year is “Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle.”  When the snack cart comes around, can you make a wise decision?  One of my goals is to provide more fresh fruits and healthy choices on the snack cart.  Some examples of nutritious snacks are: yogurt with fruit, low fat cheese and crackers, half a sandwich made with low fat deli meats, breakfast bars with oatmeal, bananas, 100% fruit or vegetable juice, trail mix, veggies and dip, and hard-boiled eggs.

Two healthy snacks per day help to stabilize blood sugar between meals and help maintain energy levels.  So, make it a habit to grab a healthy snack, and if there is something else you would like to see on our snack cart, please let me know and I’ll do my best to have it for you.
Happy Spring!
