In like a lion and out like a lamb. I think we could say that about this March. This Iowa weather will sure keep you guessing! We had to reschedule our Window EGGStravagnanza from last weekend to this upcoming Saturday, April 3rd from 9:30-10:30am, but the weather will be so much better.  So, if you have little ones (or know of little ones) bring them by the care center on Saturday to wave hello to all the residents who love them so much and to say hello to Sheila the Draft Horse while they collect Easter Eggs!

Planning these special community events has been one of the highlights of my career here at Great River Care Center.  I love seeing people come together to show the residents they are loved, remembered, and special.  I think our area is tremendous because we serve amazing people, we become family, and we love one another.  The support we receive and show each other is something that will go with me the rest of my days.

I have spent over 12 years here at Great River Care Center as Activity Director and through all the ups and downs I have cherished the moments; however, it is time for me to take some time and focus on being a wife and mom. So, starting April 6th, Crystal will be taking over the role of Recreational Program Director while I spend more time at home with my crazy family!  I am also passionate about children in need of foster care, and we have been a licensed foster family for not quite a year.  I am hoping to be able to focus more time to advocating for children in need of a loving hand and support during my time at home.  But don’t worry, you can’t get rid of me quite that easily.  I will still be helping at Turner Pointe in the evenings on occasion and am so thankful that I’ll be able to keep up with everyone.

Crystal has been a CNA here for several years and recently stepped up to help as the Activity Assistant.  She has been such a life saver to me. She knows and loves these residents from top to bottom and has been willing to dive in wherever she can to help me or anyone else. She will be amazing, I know it.  So, thank you for the support you have shown me as Activity Lady, and thank you in advance for the support you will show Crystal, and as always, thank you for making #grcctheplacetobe.
